CFC Certification Classes
Local 99 provides classes which prepare students to test for CFC Certification
in Type I (Small Appliances), Type II (High Pressure and Very High Pressure Appliances),
Type III (Low Pressure Appliances), and Universal Certification (which encompasses Type I, II, and III).
The EPA requires engineers and maintenance professionals who work on refrigeration equipment
to become CFC certified. Those who do not become CFC certified risk heavy fines and employment
termination. This course includes three nights of preparation (three hours each night) and
one night of testing. A manual will be provided which covers the fundamentals of high- and low-pressure
systems. Testing at Local 99 is approved and graded by Esco Institute.
